THE LAST ONE! Every Toyota has been illustrated, time for another short break and a beer.
I finally snuck this into my mix. My neighbor has this rad little stepvan and I never knew what it was until today. I typed in "aluminum delivery van" and it didn't take more than a few seconds to learn the history of these indestrictuble rigs. It seems that most of these still exist as they were designed to last for decades and the body will never rust. Neat!
I'm just about finished with my personal collection of rides. I have mixed feelings about my van. On one hand, I watched a little too much Sons of Anarchy and every time their support van was used in the show I just wanted one. On the other hand, I get a lot of rape jokes because of the semi-murdered-out color scheme. Either way, this things is probably the most practical rig I've ever owned. AWD for the messy Portland winters, tons of seating and plenty of room for gear when I go camping -- if only the damn thing looked a little less umm.... rapey?
Did I ever tell you about the time that I sold my house, bought an old retirement home shuttle bus, converted it to a motorhome and then spent a year living in it? Meet the "Bondo Condo", my 1996 E450 17-passenger retirement home shuttle bus. Bunk beds, an entertainment system and a simple kitchen inside, hand-painted exterior with some obvious upgrades. The wheelchair lift was converted to haul my 1125CR around and I towed a nineteen-foot wakeboard boat everywhere I went. After a year I had enough camping and grew up again and sold off my home-on-wheels, but I still see her around Portland once in a while as she is now owned by a softball team and then drive her to away games.
Today we give props to @junkman_53, both for his killer ink renderings and because he correctly guessed three of my daily sneak peeks and earned a free commission. His rig is called the Flexus (faux Lexus) and is a tastefully-appointed Previa that he is carefully converting to VIP status. On the exterior I spot moar low, late-generation SC430 wheels and a clean bodykit covered in a beautiful metallic midnight blue.
My best friend's dad had a Toyota van when we were in high school and we used it for all sorts of mischief, so it holds a special place in my heart. Edwin (@sotosalcie) owns a van very similar to that one, and just seeing it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. The addition of some old skool Supra wheels polishes the look perfectly.
Not exactly what pops into mind when you hear "minivan" is it? Paul's swagger wagon is kitted, bagged and wearing 21" Vossen VFS-1 today, although if you check out his instagram (@vk_cape97) then you can see the Sienna hosting a variety of different rims.
Commission 23/26 (car #11/26) for Doug S in Portland OR. You've always got to have one fun car and one work rig. This 72 Ford definitely wasn't the fun car!
